The installation consists of a black-painted chair, a black suitcase, a heavy rope, and a foundational brick.

Narrative

This piece addresses the psychological “gravity” of leaving. The suitcase and brick represent the literal and emotional baggage migrants carry. It deals with the heavy anchors keeping a person bound to their past or history.

That’s the travel with nowhere to go, where motion ceases to be a bridge between two points. It becomes the destination itself. In a world obsessed with arrival—with checking boxes, pinning locations, and documenting endpoints—the destinationless traveler participates in a quiet rebellion. You become a flâneur of the open earth, where progress is measured not by distance covered, but by your willingness to be entirely undone by the terrain.

Every passing tree, stranger’s face, and changing sky becomes vital because it is not serving a future goal. Without a destination, you face the raw reality of your own company. You cannot run toward a distraction, nor can you run away from a past; you can only exist in the friction between the tire and the asphalt.
